The Staff Technical Director is for the festival that wants a known technical expert to handle all aspects of technology for their festival, whether the issue is an online issue, a ticketing issue, or a projection issue. It includes everything associated with the Virtual Technical Director service, but extends that service to a dedicated, named staff member who will be there for your festival dates and handle nearly any technology need.

Services available only through a Staff Technical Director:

  • A named individual to serve as part of your festival staff as Technical Director
  • Presence at your festival on the festival dates to handle all festival day technical concerns
    • Up to five days
    • Additional $250/day fee for festival presence beyond 5 days
  • Support for all technologies, including:
    • working with venue on projection and sound concerns
    • working with third-party technology providers to support your festival
  • Ensuring you have the proper media assets to support your venue

Price: $2,500/year + travel and expenses

Included in our Staff Technical Director service:

  • Resources:
    • The SparqFest Knowledge Base (this site)
    • An enterprise grade issue tracking system (Zendesk) so that nothing falls through the cracks
    • SparqFest staff via phone, Zoom, email, and issue tracking system
    • Physical presence at your festival
  • Who Can Access:
    • Anyone
  • End-user Support:
    • SparqFest provides front-line support for your end-users
    • Both technical and non-technical issues
  • Availability:
    • 9am-5pm M-F US/Central outside of festival dates (exceptions for scheduled conference calls)
    •  Technical Director is present at the festival for your festival dates and act as part of your team
  • Turnaround:
    • 4 hours outside of festival dates
    • Technical Director is present at the festival for your festival dates and act as part of your team

About Travel and Expenses

You are responsible for any approved travel and expenses occurred by the Staff Technical Director on behalf of your festival. You must provide written approval for all travel and expense costs. We will leverage any air and lodging partnerships your festival has established to minimize the those costs so long as they meet the minimum quality levels we require for our staff.

Airfare:

  • North America/Central America/Caribbean 
    • Economy class cabin (or better)
    • At least one carry on
    • At least one checked bag
    • Pre-selected seating
  • Europe/South America
    • Comfort Plus/Economy plus or equivalent (or better)
    • At least one carry on
    • At least one pre-checked bag
    • Pre-selected seating
  • Asia/Oceania/Africa
    • Premium economy (or better)
    • At least one carry on
    • At least on checked bag
    • Pre-selected seating

Hotel:

  • Courtyard by Marriott quality or equivalent

Expenses:

  • Per-diem for meals (reduced if hotel/festival provides meals)
  • Examples of common expenses:
    • DCP authoring or third-party transcoding of media assets
    • Visa processing when a visa is required for the Staff Technical Director
    • Entry fees for any venues that require it where the festival is requiring our presence
